Fire WAN Enclosure Hardware Installation
This section provides conceptual and reference information about the Fire WAN Enclosure hardware.
For a step-by-step guide to the hardware installation, see Installing Fire WAN Enclosure.
For reference information about the possible trouble messages, see Fire WAN Troubles Reference.
The Fire WAN Network
The Fire WAN application in Desigo CC acts as the supervisor and controller of the boards in a WAN Enclosure, which can include PSC-12 and PSX-12 power supply units, and NIC-C and HUB-4 communication cards.
Fire WAN can be configured to support communication with the following fire panels:
- Firefinder XLS
- Desigo Fire Safety Modular
- Cerberus Pro Modular
The information received by Desigo CC from the remote fire panels is annunciated on the monitor and printed on the logging printer. For the WAN functionality, Desigo CC communicates with remote fire panels using FSI. The fire panels connect in a star-type configuration through a HUB-4 card.
Product Perspective
The Desigo CC station connects to the NIC-C located in a WAN Enclosure via the RS-485 HNET communication channel. The NIC-C card is the long-distance communicating device for all other HNET modules located in the WAN Enclosure.
The HUB-4 card, like NIC-C, mounts in the CC-5 Card Cage and acts as a four-port modem/RS-485 interface to the fire panels. The HUB-4 supports any combination of the supported fire panels; however, each COM-2 board on HUB-4 must have the same RS-485 or Modem application. The HUB-4 card draws its power from the PSC-12 power supply but, unlike the other CC-5 modules, needs to have the 24 volts run externally to the bottom row connectors of the card cage. The external power connection is required due to the 400mA current requirements of the fully loaded HUB-4. HUB-4 functions as a gateway between Desigo CC and the remotely connected fire panel transmitting information between the two. Further, the HUB-4 provides all necessary supervision to the remote fire panel and is charged with notifying <Desigo CC of any failure of supervision for annunciation at the Management Station.
NOTE: Inter-panel logic is not available when connected via HUB-4s.
